For Example, For a single parent with one child:
Basic Needs Allowance: $1,193
Shelter Allowance: If their rent is $486 (below the maximum of $990), they will receive $486 for shelter.
Total Payment: $1,193 + $486 = $1,679 per month.

Earnings and Deductions

According to the ODSP earnings policy, recipients to earn income without losing all their benefits. The first $1,000/month of employment income is exempt.

For employment earnings above $1,000 per month, ODSP reduces benefits by 75% of the amount exceeding this threshold.

ODSP recipients must ensure that their total assets remain below the program’s allowable limits ($40,000 for a single person, $50,000 for a couple) to continue receiving ODSP benefits.

How To Apply For ODSP

2. In-person

For an ODSP in-person application, Visit your local ODSP office and book an appointment. Bring identification, proof of income, and housing details when applying for ODSP.

3. Online Application

  • First of all, visit the online ODSP official portal.

1. ODSP Returning Criteria

To get back your ODSP payments, you must follow these circumstances:

  • You must meet ODSP’s financial requirements at the time of reapplication.
  • If you were previously approved under ODSP without a medical review date, you are eligible for rapid reinstatement without further disability adjudication.
  • If your prior approval included a medical review date, you may still qualify for rapid reinstatement, but a medical review will be scheduled later.
